The South Pender Island Local Trust Committee will be asked to amend its proposed public-notification bylaw after the Islands Trust Executive Committee declined to approve it, citing risk, costs and vagueness.[1]

The committee recommended limiting the bylaw’s minimum public-notification methods to two.[1]

During discussion, Vice-Chair Tobi Elliott raised concerns about confusion over notice methods, and members discussed specifying the “South Pender Public Notice email subscriber list.” The minutes also record concerns about the cost and uncertain frequency of Canada Post mail-outs.[1]

The committee approved public-notification bylaws for Gambier Island and Hornby Island at the March 25 meeting.[1]
