Saturna committee approves Peretz variance and frontage exemption
The approvals address requirements for a proposed subdivision and allow it to proceed to the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure for finalization.

The Saturna Island Local Trust Committee approved a development variance permit and exempted two proposed lots from a frontage requirement, clearing two Islands Trust conditions for the proposed subdivision to be finalized by the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure.[1]
The committee approved the variance for application SA-DVP-2020.1 and exempted Lots A and B from the one-tenth perimeter provision of the Local Government Act.[1] Planner Phil Testemale told the meeting the variance addressed the proposed lots’ width-to-depth ratio, while the exemption addressed their highway frontage.[2]
Testemale said the subdivision would not increase density and described it as proceeding under a rezoning approved in 2018.[2] He said Lot A could have one dwelling, while Lots B and C could each have one dwelling and one cottage.[2]
The minutes record that the committee also received a presentation on the Groundwater Sustainability Strategy, a project involving Southern Gulf Islands local trust committees.[1] William Shulba told the meeting the work had been underway since 2019 and was nearing completion of its deliverables.[2]

So, and similarly, Priscilla had some comments, sorry, Priscilla, Eubank had some comments earlier about densification, which is not true. The subdivision is not densifying. It is merely proceeding with the subdivision of the land, which was permitted through the rezoning.
