Saturna trustees ask Islands Trust to revive East Point Road task force
The committee’s request follows discussion of tree removal, erosion and coordination with the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure.

The Saturna Island Local Trust Committee asked the Islands Trust Executive Committee to revive a 1997 agreement with the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure and re-establish the task force described in it.[1]
During discussion of trees along East Point Road, the minutes record concerns about erosion, community consultation and what could be done to address the road’s condition.[1]
The minutes say the Ministry was aware of ongoing concern and felt surprised by what had occurred along the road; they also record a request for a geotechnical report and a proposal to develop coordination and communication processes.[1]
