Saturna trustees advance housing review
The committee endorsed a project to examine minor housing amendments and scheduled a community information meeting for July 18.

The review will examine possible zoning changes, including to multi-family residential zoning, and whether they could conflict with the Official Community Plan, according to the meeting minutes.[1] Trustees endorsed the project charter and directed staff to schedule a community information meeting for the July 18, 2024, committee meeting.[1]
The minutes say the review would allow analysis and community consultation before the committee considers what zoning changes might be made and whether they could trigger Official Community Plan amendments.[1]
The minutes say the committee will consider the residents’ association’s proposals as part of the minor project, which includes reviews of Schedule C, Schedule E and multi-family development zoning.[1]
The minutes record comments at the meeting about Saturna’s aging population and difficulty finding housing for service providers, as well as a community member’s concern that the proposed changes could negatively affect water supply.[1]
