Saturna committee advances Hall ALR exclusion application
The committee voted to send the proposed 12-hectare exclusion to the Agricultural Land Commission and to write to Lyackson First Nation about continued communication.

The Saturna Island Local Trust Committee voted to submit application SA-ALR-2023.1 to the Agricultural Land Commission for consideration of a proposed 12-hectare exclusion from the Agricultural Land Reserve, and to write to Lyackson First Nation about its desire for meaningful reconciliation and continued communication.[1]
Trustees discussed the process, saying it was new to the committee and that they wanted more advice from higher levels of government; the minutes also record discussion about the application’s separate exclusion and inclusion components and the possibility of a site visit for concerned First Nations.[1]
The committee also voted to give second reading to two bylaws for application SA-RZ-2023.2 and directed staff to schedule an electronic public hearing and a community information meeting to be held concurrently.[1]
